Dr. Mobley is Professor of History & Economics at Concordia University Wisconsin. Both he and his wife, Dr. Susan Mobley, who is a Professor at CUW and Chair of the History Department, have served there for over twenty years. They live in Thiensville and have two sons, Pierce and Quinn.
In addition to his academic work, which focuses on 18th and 19th century economic theorists like Adam Smith and Henry Carey, Dr. Mobley has written a regular column for the Ozaukee News Graphic, numerous op-eds for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wispolitics, and other Wisconsin publications, and has made numerous appearances on news outlets such as the BBC, NPR, CNN, and MSNBC.
Outside academia Dr. Mobley has been active in local government. Dr. Mobley has been elected to four successive terms as Village President (Mayor) of Thiensville, Wisconsin. Thiensville has broad authority under Wisconsin's home rule statutes and has its own police, fire and public works departments. Prior to his election as Village President Dr. Mobley served on the Thiensville Village Board as a Trustee. Thiensville has been ranked among the best places to live in the country and during the Covid-19 Pandemic never declared a state of emergency. Thiensville was one of the few municipalities in the country to hold its annual July 4th parade in 2020.
In business, Dr. Mobley helped found DOMO Capital Management, LLC, which is currently located in Germantown, WI, and served as a managing partner between 2008-2012. He has also served on the Board of Commerce State Bank, with its headquarters in West Bend, WI, and is currently an active real estate investor. Dr. Mobley is a long-time member and past President of the Thiensville-Mequon Rotary Club, a long-time member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, and participates actively in a variety of community and academic groups and organizations.
Dr. Mobley has participated in state and national politics for many years and was an alternate delegate representing the State of Wisconsin at the 2008, 2016, and 2020 Republican National Conventions. He was a surrogate for Donald Trump in both the 2016 and 2020 campaigns.
Dr. Mobley graduated from Episcopal High School, in Baton Rouge, LA. He earned a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was also a fellow at the United States Military Academy's summer seminar in military history.
