As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of South Florida in the late-1970s, Mr. Guida began his career as a process engineer with Rohm & Haas Company, where he found success in the production of methyl methacrylate and chloromethyl ether. Subsequently, he gained valuable expertise in roles of increasing responsibility for such companies as Cargill Fertilizers, Gulf Coast Lead and Badger Engineers, through which he honed his skills in refining, petrochemical, fertilizer, environmental and water projects.
Before the turn of the century, Mr. Guida became a senior process-engineering supervisor for Mustang Engineers, which later became Pegasus TSI during the course of his employment. In recent years, he built upon his solid foundation as a process/environmental engineering manager and the director of water technology for Fluor. In his capacity as the director, he deals with wastewater issues, supports sales efforts and oversees the group on an international scale. Supported by his extensive expertise, Mr. Guida also excels as a process and environmental engineering consultant and as an adjunct chemical engineering professor for the University of South Florida's Chemical Engineering Department.
A registered professional engineer with a proven record of accomplishment in process design, environmental engineering and the commissioning of chemical production units of environmental systems, Mr. Guida is considered a subject matter expert with Fluor in several technologies, including water, fertilizer and uranium extraction technology. Throughout the course of his career, he has worked for such clients as Solvay Solexis, Merck & Company and Raytheon Aircraft in various capacities. Even though his career has been suffused with highlights, Mr. Guida is most proud to have parlayed his extensive knowledge to students at his alma mater.
An expert in his field, Mr. Guida holds a master's degree in environmental engineering in addition to his undergraduate degree. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the International Water Conference Advisory Council and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. In light of his outstanding breadth of knowledge, he has contributed to such publications as "Uranium Extraction from Phosphoric Acid," "Computer Modeling Methods for Use in Design and Management of Industrial Stormwater Systems" and "Water and Wastewater Optimization Methods for Industrial Systems." Looking toward the future, Mr. Guida intends to remain on the same path and pursue consulting work on the side.
