She has also served as an ER Volunteer at the Nicklaus Children's hospital in 2018.
With the American Red Cross in Orlando and Miami since 2016, Dr. Garness has offered comfort, humanitarian relief, including financial, mental health and health services, and referrals for short and long-term recovery to families affected by natural disasters. Since 2020, Dr. Garness has excelled as a disease investigator with Lacuna Health in Louisville, Kentucky, where her duties include contract tracing and daily patient monitoring for COVID-19 patients, educating businesses on sanitizing facilities and training new staff members on daily operations and working procedures.
Dr. Garness notably holds certifications in public health from the National Board of Public Health Examiners, COVID-19 contact tracing from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and as a regional duty officer and responder by the American Red Cross. Her career-related honors include the Gold Presidential Service Award, Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges, induction into the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society and the Sarah Hopkins Rising Star Humanitarian Award from the American Red Cross.
