She intends to release a cookbook and memoir titled "Completion: How Cooking Saved My Life" in the coming years, which will include some of her favorite recipes. The aforementioned book is also a reflection of her former struggles living in a domestic violence shelter as a victim of abuse. During her stay at the shelter, Ms. Michel often found solace cooking for the other women and children with which she resided.
A daughter of Haitian immigrants, Ms. Michel has been greatly inspired by her culture to help those in need, having notably auctioned off her cooking services to various non-profit causes, especially those involving domestic violence against women. She also became active with a non-profit organization called Community2Community after the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010. Ms. Michel is additionally active as a member of the Homestead Florida Economic Development Program in Homestead, Florida.
Initially earning an associate degree from Mandl College for Allied Health in New York City in 2010, Ms. Michel obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix in 2015. In 2018, she was presented with a Community Award in recognition of her efforts. She was later featured in The New York Times in 2020. Likewise profiled in the New York Daily News, Manik Magazine, Zagit.com, Food Republic and Edible Manhattan, Ms. Michel was notably acknowledged as the first Haitian American chef to be featured on Smorgasburg.
