In 1981-1982, he studied the English language for eight months at the Fort Lauderdale Adult Center and simultaneously pursued a university education at Fort Lauderdale College, from which he graduated as a Bachelor in Science corresponding to the class of 1985.
His first work experience was as a gardener, an activity that he shared at the same time as his university studies. After graduation, he served at the Fort Lauderdale Airport, in inventory process of respective airport stores.
In 1988, he launched his first venture, Maya Industries, a subcontractor, which, due to its tenacity and good service, evolved and became in 1995 Prime Painting Inc., a paint application contractor. From there it has been developing important work as a contractor, today with his painting groups, with his brother Juan de Jesus Maya as senior supervisor and his cousin Juan Javier Hidalgo as senior sales executives. Prime Painting Inc. is the leader of exterior painting of residential houses in Palm County Beach, Florida.
Since 1990, he has been providing humanitarian work, and providing donations for surgical interventions for children from different countries. His donations have always been present in times of disasters caused by natural phenomena both in the United States and in Venezuela, also, he has provided constant contributions for the social works of the Venezuelan Catholic churches and so on, where there is a need, there is his participation through his contributions. All these actions feed Pedro Juan's soul of satisfaction and happiness, for that reason he shares it being useful to humanity.
After having complied with the process and requirements established by the United States Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Law, through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service, he was granted his certificate of Naturalization, on April 11, 2000.
