During the course of her professional career, she has worked with individuals of all ages who experience mental illness, emotional disturbance, and/or behavioral challenges. Additionally, Ms. Forbes has served across multiple industries, including the private and nonprofit sectors, as well as federal, state, and local organizations.
For the past two years, Ms. Forbes has worked on behalf of Birch Family Services in New York City. Mainly responsible for conducting functional behavior analyses and observations to provide staff training on therapeutic interventions best suited for each individual they provide services, she also provides staff with strategies for crisis intervention and prevention for safety purposes. Furthermore, she consults with teachers on how to intervene with students who may be experiencing behavioral problems, or have been diagnosed with a mental and/or emotional disturbance. Serving all of New York City, Birch Family Services is an education, employment and community support services provider for those dually diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental and/or emotional disorders, and autism, as well as their families.
Aside from her work at Birch, Ms. Forbes is the chief operating officer of Daughters of Phoebe Inc., a charitable organization that will assist at-risk and disadvantaged females by providing them with the necessary resources to live healthy lifestyles. In this capacity, she is responsible for the oversight of the nonprofit's strategic vision and daily operations, as well as providing and presenting reports to the board of directors. Among her other noteworthy roles, Ms. Forbes has was recently invited to become a member of the National Association of Special Education Teachers/American Academy of Special Education Professionals (NASET/AASEP)'s Advisory Council for Board Certifications and Professional Development. She has also garnered recognition in Human Resources Administration during her work with the Department of Homeless Services in New York, and as a Foster Care Family Team Facilitator and Mediator.
Through her community, Ms. Forbes is the head of the Youth Sabbath School Ministry at No Limit Beulah Sabbath Pentecostal Church in Brooklyn, NY, where she also serves as a Missionary and member of the Evangelical team. Professionally, Ms. Forbes maintains her affiliations with the Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, American Psychological Association, Association of Positive Behavior Analysts, and the Council for Exceptional Children.
To prepare for her professional career, Ms. Forbes received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Pace University, a Master of Arts in Organizational Management, equivalent to a MBA, at the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis at Saint Joseph's University. Ms. Forbes also earned an advanced certificate in Pastoral Counseling, and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Community care and Pastoral Counseling at Liberty University, in order to bridge the gaps of her passion for Christ, Education and Community. Well qualified in her field, Ms. Forbes bears certification in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Special Education National Associations, respectively, and in Pastoral Counseling through Liberty University.
