Ms. Kelley initially obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia in 1975, graduating with high honors. She was selected to serve as one of the five recent college graduates as a Governor's Intern within the office of the governor of the State of Virginia from 1975 to 1976. She continued her education earning a Juris Doctor from the University of New York at Buffalo in 1979.
Ms. Kelley began her career as an attorney with the Neighborhood Legal Services Program, an organization that provides free legal services to the poor. She later worked as a confidential law clerk to the United States District Court for the Western District of New York from 1981 to 1982.
In 1982, Ms. Kelley joined the law firm of Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria, LLP in Buffalo, New York and became a senior partner with the law firm in 1987. Since joining the firm, she has practiced within the area of personal injury law, specializing in medical malpractice and products liability cases.
Ms. Kelley has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell with the highest peer review rating for legal ability and ethics since 1995. She has been named to Best Lawyers in America since 2013, and has been named as Lawyer of the Year for multiple years within the areas of Medical Malpractice and Products Liability. She has been selected to Super Lawyers since its inception and recognized as one of the top 25 women lawyers in Upstate New York. She is also the recipient of the "Women Helping Women" Award presented by the National Organization for Women.
