After being diagnosed with dyslexia, Mrs. Barris found school to be challenging. However, her teachers went above and beyond for her, which inspired her to pursue a similar professional path. During the early years of her career, she gained valuable expertise in the field as a special education coordinator for the Beaumont Unified School District, in which she remained between 2012 and 2016. Over the years, Mrs. Barris also served as a special education director for Perris Union High School as well as an instructional coach and instructional coach coordinator for Silver Consolidated Schools.
Backed by her professional expertise, Mrs. Barris currently excels as an associate superintendent for Silver Consolidated Schools, where she has overseen classroom instruction, supported teachers and attended meetings since 2020. For her outstanding work in the field, she was recognized as the Administrator of the Year in 2018. Even though her career has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly proud of her work as special education director, which involved the difficult task of removing students from the home for a variety of reasons. Another standout moment for Mrs. Barris was helping a young man with substance abuse find his sobriety; when she met him again, he was working as a busboy and gave her a hug for helping turn his life around.
An expert in her field, Mrs. Barris earned a bachelor's degree in special education from Western New Mexico University, a Master of Education from California Baptist University and a Master's Degree from Azusa Pacific University. Within the coming years, she intends to experience the continued growth and success of her career. Ultimately, Mrs. Barris aims to teach diversity to students and teachers while removing barriers and doing whatever she can to make teachers' jobs easier.
