Mr. Smith serves as a traffic officer for the Matthews Police Department. Previously, he worked as an officer for the University of South Carolina Beaufort Police Department and the Estill Police Department. Mr. Smith's responsibilities include enforcing state and local laws for the highways of the town of Matthews and providing safety and security for motorists in town.
As a traffic officer, Mr. Smith responds to calls about collisions and works to reduce motor vehicle accidents within the city limits. Aside from his primary career endeavors, he volunteers as a water safety instructor at a local camp in his hometown in South Carolina. Likewise, he serves as an educator regarding intoxication law. Mr. Smith has been invited to speak at many events about a shooting incident that he responded to, wherein he was shot three times while on duty in 2016. During this difficult time, Mr. Smith benefited greatly from the support of his friends and family, as well as his own resilience.
Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Kean University. Among his subsequent career highlights, he is proud to have earned the Ironman Award from the National Criminal Interdiction Conference. Looking toward the future, Mr. Smith intends to secure higher positions in the police force, and to eventually be appointed to high leadership.
