Since 2014, Mr. Owens has found success as a pastor with the Greater Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church. Previously, he established himself as a school bus driver for the Cleveland Metropolitan School Board District Transportation Committee. In this capacity, Mr. Owens is responsible for transporting students to and from school and collaborating with nearly 300 drivers on union matters.
Mr. Owens was inspired to become a pastor at age 18. Though he did not accept the call until he was 22 years old, he has been preaching ever since. As a result, he obtained a Master of Divinity from St. Thomas University. Thereafter, he earned a certificate from Advanced Church Ministries and a Certificate of Completion of Pastoring. Today, undaunted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Owens has continued to provide preaching services through a plethora of live streaming events.
Mr. Owens attributes his success to the influence of his Christian faith, as well as the motivation he has received from his friends and family. He is honored to have received honorary doctorates from St. Thomas University and Universal Church Ministries. Looking toward the future, his goal is to modify, reconstruct and redevelop his church in an effort to accommodate more members. Above all, Mr. Owens aims to spend time with his 15 grandchildren and great-grandchild.
