After obtaining associate degrees in correctional and police science, Ms. Myrick obtained a bachelor's degree in business from Saint Paul's College and continued her education with a Master of Education from Central Michigan University in 2007. She is also a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
Ms. Myrick prospered as a teaching assistant, as well as mental health counselor, before founding Pushing Past the Hurt in 2020, an organization providing life coaching and counseling services as well as assistance to individuals who opt for divorce. She is also a frequent speaker on domestic violence. Ms. Myrick serves her community as a volunteer with the Salvation Army and the Geneva Shelter for Domestic Violence.
Ms. Myrick was inspired to start Pushing Past the Hurt after being in a marriage characterized by domestic violence. She became a licensed minister, helping women who needed assistance in various areas, from achieving mental wellness to creating resumes. Ms. Myrick's journey into the mental health counseling field began while she was teaching special education. During this time, she was engaged in therapy work for children and became an advocate for her son following his diagnosis with mental health conditions. Finding different programs that provided her with the tools to help her son stimulated her interest in mental health.
In the coming years, Ms. Myrick plans to continue helping more people find their way back to mental wellness through Pushing Past the Hurt.
