Mr. Williams has served as a licensed social worker and the president and chief operating officer at Central City Integrated Health (CCIH) in Detroit since 2018. Over the past three years, he has been instrumental in ensuring quality health care, while also overseeing the daily clinical operations of a staff of approximately 120 employees. Additionally, as part of his commitments, he is required to ensure that all federal, state and local regulatory requirements are met. Above all, Mr. Williams is passionate about advocating for those he serves through CCIH.
CCIH is a federally qualified health center that serves the local, less fortunate population throughout the community. Services include primary, dental and behavioral care, as well as housing and employment services. Prior to working in his present role, Mr. Williams served on behalf of the Detroit Wayne County Mental Health Authority, an organization that provides assistance to children through adults with serious mental illness, emotional disturbance, autism and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and substance use disorder.
Throughout the course of his tenure, Mr. Williams has worked in numerous roles, including as a pre-court screener early on in his career where he wrote reports on petitions for mental health psychiatric hospitalization. He also served as a clinical therapist and assertive community treatment program specialist, garnered expertise in inpatient and outpatient services, in program compliance, and at a managerial level in a psychiatric setting.
As an assertive community treatment program specialist, Mr. Williams spent nearly 20 years overseeing the Assertive Community Treatment Program, which is a high-intensive, community-based service delivery model that brought services into the homes of patients, as well as individual therapy, case management, nursing and psychiatric services. Additionally, it has greatly benefited and improved the lives of those living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other mental disorders. Honoring such accomplishments, Mr. Williams was selected for the 2021 Improved Staff Retention Award by Molina Healthcare.
A leader in his community, Mr. Williams is the former president of the school of social work alumni board at his alma mater, Wayne State University, in Detroit. He also volunteered on several other advisory boards and been active at the state level on various political campaigns. To prepare for his career, Mr. Williams acquired a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master of Arts in social work at Wayne State University.
