After retiring from the Marine Corps, Mr. Liptok served his community as a corrections officer for the state of Pennsylvania and, later, opened Pop's Gym with his son.

Mr. Liptok served his country for more than three decades with the United States Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of a master sergeant. With the Marine Corps, he earned five Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medals, seven Navy Corps Commendation Medals and three Meritorious Service Medals. In addition, Mr. Liptok garnered the Legion of Merit, a military award of the United States Armed Forces that is bestowed for exceptional meritorious conduct.
Mr. Liptok's assignments with the Marine Corps included service as a drill instructor at such locations as Parris Island, South Carolina, a detachment commander in Bangkok and Moscow, and a sergeant major assigned with the Eighth Marines Second Battalion. Likewise, he served with the Marine Central Command and Headquarters in Tampa, Florida. During Operation Desert Storm in 1990, Mr. Liptok deployed with the Fourth Marine Expeditionary Brigade and with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit to Somalia.
Additional assignments took Mr. Liptok to Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, he served as a Marine Corps senior enlisted man at Bethesda Naval Hospital for the Wounded Warriors Regiment. During his service, Mr. Liptok obtained a Bachelor of Arts in international studies from George Mason University while stationed in Quantico, Virginia.
