Mr. Burkhalter remains affiliated with the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants and Pi Alpha, the National Honor Society for Physician Assistants.
Prior to his professional career as a PA, Mr. Burkhalter served as a firefighter-paramedic. He then continued his education and earned a Bachelor of Science in health sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He subsequently obtained a Master of Science in medicine from Mississippi College. Mr. Burkhalter also attributes a great deal of his success to the support of his parents, his brother and his wife.
In 2020, American Physician Partners distinguished Mr. Burkhalter among the Outstanding Advanced Practice Clinicians of the Year. He has also received a number of accolades on behalf of Mississippi College such as the Alumnus of the Year Award and the Chair Award. In the coming years, Mr. Burkhalter intends to expand his skill set in emergency medicine while devoting more attention towards improving clinical practice on a company-wide level.
