Two of Mr. Guzzi's paintings were included in NASA's "Vision of Flight" exhibit.
WEST NEWTON, MA, December 24, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- George Guzzi has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For more than 50 years, Mr. Guzzi has thrived as an illustrator, painter and the owner of the Guzzi Gallery in West Newton, Massachusetts. Though he specializes in acrylic painting, he also frequently utilizes a knife to generate multiple textures within his paintings of Southern Europe, coastal areas of Maine, the female figure and a broad range of air and spacecraft. Mr. Guzzi's paintings can be viewed at galleries throughout Maine, Florida and Connecticut, the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution and numerous artistic collections, such as Rachel Rubin Wolf's "Painting Ships, Shores and the Sea" and "Strokes of Genius 2: The Best of Drawing Light and Shadow (Sons of Gulielmus)."
As a member of the United States Air Force Art Program, Mr. Guzzi traveled to Panama, Italy, Germany, Spain and England to document various Air Force activities in more than 80 paintings. He additionally participated in the NASA Art Program to document astronaut-training events, along with five space shuttle launches at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. Two of Mr. Guzzi's paintings were included in NASA's "Vision of Flight" exhibit, which was featured in several museums all over the world. He was represented in ten volumes of The Society of Illustrators Annual of Illustration and was a judge twice.
Mr. Guzzi graduated from Tufts University in 1956 where he was class secretary. He graduated with a BS in Chemistry/Biology. He also graduated from The Art Institute of Boston in 1959. He taught life and figure drawing classes in the evenings from 1959 to 1965. He and his wife Rita, a nationally renowned painter, taught a landscape painting class in Talloires, France for Tufts University for seven years.
Throughout his career, Mr. Guzzi has completed illustrations for a host of major publications such as Cosmopolitan magazine, Redbook magazine, Reader's Digest and Good Housekeeping. His work has also been honored at multiple events that were organized by the American Society of Aviation Artists and he has previously been selected for the Grand Prize at the Portland Art Festival in Portland, Maine. In the coming years, Mr. Guzzi intends to continue creating fine art while devoting more focus to figure drawing and incorporating professional athletes as a central theme of his work.
George has four children: Lisa Guzzi Nolan, Beth Guzzi Williams, George III, and Christopher. He has six grandchildren: Maggie and Joseph Nolan, Samantha and Charlie Williams and Marina and Luca Guzzi.
