Licensed to practice medicine in California and Wyoming, Dr. Mattern is also certified in the treatment of cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Mattern began his career as a captain and commanding officer of the surgical team for the United States Navy Reserve. He later served as a cardiologist for many hospitals, including the Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton and the San Diego Naval Hospital. Dr. Mattern found further success operating out of his private practice in San Diego, California.
Moreover, Dr. Mattern excelled as the head of cardiac catheterization for the Tri-City Medical Center as well as an interventional cardiologist, a principal investigator and the chairman of the critical care committee for the Wyoming Medical Center. Among the many highlights of his 55-year career, he is incredibly proud of having treated nearly 5,000 patients. Dr. Mattern is additionally affiliated with the American College of Internal Medicine, the American Medical Society and the American College of Cardiology, for which he was appointed as the governor.
