GLEN ELLYN, IL, January 04, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sara E. Burton-Zick has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Mrs. Burton-Zick obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Health from Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL in 1979. She subsequently provided over 30 years of service from 1980 to 2012 with the DuPage County Health Department in Wheaton, IL as a Registered Sanitarian. In this capacity, Ms. Burton-Zick worked as an Environmental Health Specialist through which she investigated many types of public and environmental health concerns which included identifying Food Safety risks and enforcing Food Safety regulations. She is most known for her technical knowledge in the area of Food Service Design and Construction in her position as Senior Plan Review Sanitarian which she held for over 20 years.
In 2012, Ms. Burton-Zick founded Food Service Consultants by Sara Inc., a food safety consultancy. Her role has changed from regulator to consultant but the responsibilities are the same; evaluating, planning, designing, managing, implementing, even enforcing. She has stayed true to the core values of Promotion, Protection, and Prevention of public and environmental health programs. Ms. Burton-Zick continues to maintain her licenses as an RS (Registered Sanitarian) and REHS (Registered Environmental Health Specialist) via the National Environmental Health Association as well as LEHP (Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner) through the Department of Professional Regulation State of Illinois. In addition, she serves on the Joint Committee (Regulatory) of the National Sanitation Foundation International (NSF) and is a member of the Illinois Environmental Health Association.
Ms. Burton-Zick is a supporter of Open Arms, a free medical clinic located in Elkhorn, Wisconsin serving low-income and uninsured residents of Walworth County. What started with just medical needs within 5 years has expanded to include dental, vision, behavioral health, lab and pharmaceutical assistance.
She is also a supporter of the Lake Geneva Water Safety Patrol, an organization dedicated to water safety and saving lives on Lake Geneva, WI. Unique in itself, as it provides valuable service to the lake and is self-funded.
Since 1983, Sara has maintained her involvement as a Regular Member of the Lake Geneva Yacht Club (LGYC-Wisconsin). While on the Board of Directors of LGYC, she garnered the Marie Cramp service award for her initiative and development of Women on the Water. More commonly referred to as WOW, using Sonar Keel Boats was a program she initiated and developed to provide sailing education and racing opportunity for adult women of all experience levels. Ms. Burton-Zick has been an active member of St. Benedict Parish, Fontana, WI. Her passion for music and singing include the church choir and Heart of the Nation Catholic broadcast.
Ms. Burton-Zick credits her success mostly to perseverance and determination. She has long drawn inspiration from many great mentors in her personal and professional life as motivation. Sara is very proud to have achieved a continued level of high respect among her colleagues and associates not only in Environmental and Public Health but related fields as well. She adds that most importantly, she feels that she has helped pave the way for women entering and sustaining a career in Health Sciences.
Her way of looking toward the future is by celebrating all the special successes along life's journey and being open to see where it leads. For now, she plans to continue to offer her services as a Commercial Food Service Design Consultant and Food Safety Specialist.
