BUCHANAN, MI, January 04, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David C. Eifler has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Eifler obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Albion College in 1980. Following this accomplishment, he attained a Master in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Central Michigan University in 1982. He concluded his academic efforts with completing the requirements for the National Commercial Lending Graduate School Program at the University of Oklahoma in 1998.
Mr. Eifler began his almost 40-year banking career as a Commercial Credit Analyst for Michigan National Bank. During his time there he was promoted to Commercial Loan Officer and then Assistant Vice President due to excellent performance and production. He left that bank for Old Kent Bank (n/k/a Fifth Third Bank) in 1987. In short order he was again promoted to Vice President in the Commercial department. Mr. Eifler remained there until 1996.
In 1996, Mr. Eifler moved to Chemical Bank as Vice President in the Commercial department. While there he lead sales production in different categories and developed a new market from zero balances to over $18 million in outstanding over two years. He was promoted to one of two Group Managers of the Commercial department for his efforts.
He rejoined Fifth Third Bank in 2002 and remained until 2017. During his time there he worked both in the Business Banking Group and the Commercial Loan department as the bank went through alignment changes. In the last four years at Fifth Third Bank, Mr. Eifler was a sales leader in various performance categories. While a Vice President in the commercial side of the bank, Mr. Eifler also worked closely with the 12 retail branches assigned to him for increased sales and market leadership. Market share increased from 28% to 35%.
Fate took a turn in 2017 when a competitor's President was about to retire. The Recruiter and soon to be retired Executive Officer both encouraged Mr. Eifler to join Horizon Bank as the Market President. He and his experienced team have posted record profits and market share gains ever since. With a solid team in place and performances increasing, Mr. Eifler saw his responsibilities expand by covering the markets of not only Southwest Michigan, but also North Central Indiana. He attributes this success to having excellent senior management support, dedicated staff and a strong bank reputation.
Well regarded in his field, Mr. Eifler is most proud to have attained the Pat Moody Award from the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber of Commerce for significant community service and the Burton Ruby Award from Horizon Bank also for a lifetime of community service. In addition, he has received not one but two special merit awards from the State of Michigan. One each for community service and another for economic development and fostering teamwork. He received the Robert Harrison Award from the Southwest Michigan Economic Growth Alliance for a lifetime of economic development efforts. Michigan's Great Southwest Leadership Council saw fit to grant Mr. Eifler their annual Excellence Award in economic development for coordinating agencies leadership and teamwork.
Past community leadership roles have included City of Buchanan DDA and TIFA, Buchanan Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers/Big Sister of Berrien and Cass Counties, City of Niles Riverfest, Noon Optimist Club of Niles, Optimist Club of Buchanan, Optimist International, The Heritage Museum and Cultural Center, and Southwest Economic Growth Alliance.
Current community roles include: Greater Niles Chamber of Commerce- Chairman of the Board, Spectrum/Lakeland Health Foundation- Board of Directors and Strategic Leadership Council- Chairman Housing Committee.
Mr. Eifler attributes much of his success to hard work and persistence. Among his accomplishments, he is most satisfied to have provided his service in community projects and economic development. He said that he owes his commitment to others to his father's example as he is active to this day at nearly 90 years old. "Everything can be made to happen by working with, not through, others for a common goal". Mr. Eifler always strives to note that it is the whole team that accomplishes worthwhile goals and not just one individual. He looks forward to retiring in a few years and enjoying more time with his wife and two sons and their families.
