Originally working as an anatomic pathology manager for the southeast in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, North Carolina for four years before advancing to her current role in 2021. Specializing in cytotechnology, cytopathology and anatomic pathology, Ms. Lewis is responsible for ensuring that all five laboratories throughout Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee maintain regulatory compliance with various organizations and medical standards, including the College of American Pathologists and the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments. She also conducts inspections and examines records and employee competencies. Likewise, Ms. Lewis is tasked with reporting quality infractions to Quest's quality assurance director.
Grateful to her organization for entrusting her with a position that holds much responsibility, Ms. Lewis credits her strong work ethic to her success. Ms. Lewis studied at High Point University in North Carolina, from which she obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology in 1983. She also completed additional coursework in cytotechnology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Furthermore, Ms. Lewis became a certified cytotechnologist through the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
