YORK, PA, January 11, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Carroll Tyminski has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
While volunteering in the YWCA, Dr. Tyminski was placed in a classroom with children who were institutionalized because of their disabilities. Week after week, she volunteered in the hopes of learning more. Driven to further help this population, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Education in special education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the early 1970s. Over the years, Dr. Tyminski gained valuable expertise in the field with the Johns Hopkins University and a special education teacher in public schools in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Just prior to obtaining her current position, Dr. Tyminski graduated with a Doctor of Education in adult education and psychoeducational processes from Temple University. Backed by years of professional expertise, she excels as an associate professor of education at Elizabethtown College, where she previously served as an associate dean and the chairman of the department of education. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Tyminski is affiliated with the Council for Exceptional Children and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
Alongside her primary work in the field, Dr. Tyminski advocates for parents of those with special needs and contributes as a volunteer with Gigi's Playhouse. In light of her professional expertise, she has accepted several Exceptional Performance Awards and a scholarship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Even though her career has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly proud of establishing the special education program at Elizabethtown College; she wrote the original curriculum and ushered it through the approval process with the state of Pennsylvania. Looking ahead, Dr. Tyminski intends to expand her network and continue working with families of those with special needs.
