AUBURN, NY, January 12, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chris Uyehara has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Uyehara's interest in baking emerged as the result of his upbringing, as his father owned a bakery in his native state of Hawaii. Prior to establishing the business, his father had served in the U.S. Army as an interpreter and had been stationed in Hawaii. Mr. Uyehara and his brother initially refined their skills in their father's bakery before he formally began his career baking in hotels and ultimately advanced to become an Executive Pastry Chef.
Mr. Uyehara owned a successful pastry business with his wife in New York State in the early 1990s. He later excelled as a Pastry Chef with Patisserie and Rosalie's Cucina in Skaneateles, New York from 1997 to 2005, Savannah Dhu in Clyde from 2005 to 2020. In addition to his accomplishments in food service, Mr. Uyehara has also made an impact as a Chef instructor in nutrition and food studies with Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics at Syracuse University since 2006. Mr. Uyehara is also a Gold Medalist in Ice Carving World Ice Art Champion Fairbanks Alaska and Gold in Harbin International Ice Competition Harbin China.
Mr. Uyehara learned the art of distillation through self-study. In 2015, he teamed with a partner who owned a former paper mill factory to open a Last Shot Distillery in Skaneateles, NY. Purchasing corn, wheat and other crops from local farmers, Mr. Uyehara produces a variety of white and flavored whiskey, vodka, bourbon, crème brûlée and moonshine, as well as a 100 percent maple syrup spirit. After Mr. Uyehara began this new craft, he learned distilling was in his DNA. Mr. Uyehara's grandparents, who were immigrants and indentured laborers at a sugar plantation in Hawaii, were mistreated until his grandmother made an offer to the plantation supervisor that she would provide them with whiskey from her pineapple moonshine.
Last Shot Distillery has accrued several accolades in recent years, having placed in both the Camp Good Days Finger Lakes International Wine Competition and the Great American International Spirits Competition. It was additionally celebrated with the Seattle International Spirit Award. Last Shot Distillery was further recognized among the Top 100 Spirits by Wine Enthusiast Magazine and The Fifty Best Liqueur Rankings. Mr. Uyehara has earned Master Distiller in Season 3 Moonshiners Master Distiller World War of Whiskey.
Among his greatest career accomplishments, Mr. Uyehara is incredibly proud of teaching students life skills. He believes he has had a great multifaceted career, for which he and his wife are grateful because they have endured years of extraordinary and unfortunate challenges. In coming years, Mr. Uyehara aspires to build a stellar reputation for his distillery by ensuring that they make the best product consistently and hopes to focus on the business as to better support his impending retirement from Falk College.
