From 1983 to 1984, he worked as an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology of the University of California Los Angeles. Notably, Dr. Chetkowski is board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility as well as in obstetrics and gynecology.
In order to prepare for his professional path, Dr. Chetkowski began his studies at the University of California Berkeley, earning a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in 1970 and 1973, respectively. Graduating with a Doctor of Medicine from the University of California San Francisco in 1978, he later completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Yale New Haven Hospital followed by a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of California Los Angeles. An expert in the field of assisted reproduction, Dr. Chetkowski's written works have been published in numerous medical journals.
A recipient of the Woodrow Wilson fellowship, Dr. Chetkowski was selected for inclusion in the 22nd edition of Who's Who in the West and multiple volumes of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America. Notably, he cites his contributions in developing the long ovarian stimulation protocol in mid-1980s, which was the predominant IVF protocol for about 15 years, as one of the proudest achievements of his career. Looking towards the future, Dr. Chetkowski intends to continue his clinical research, to mentor students and to establish a scholarship fund.
