Mr. Buck is a risk management consultant and president of Larry W. Buck & Associates in Houston, a business he established in 1978. Serving as a liaison between his clients and agents to address various insurance-related issues, he also reviews policies and endorsements, among other services. A tenured expert in his field, Mr. Buck started out in the insurance industry in 1956, working as an independent agent for an agency that was the general agent for Aetna Casualty & Surety Company and, later, as an agent and office manager for Alexander and Alexander (now AON). He has notably contributed more than 65 years to the field and is 89 years young.
The most rewarding aspect of Mr. Buck's career as an entrepreneur and consultant has been establishing long-term relationships with his clients, many of whom he has retained for 30 years or more. He also recalls several specific accomplishments, including the role he played in obtaining a million-dollar refund on a group insurance contract that he was able to negotiate for the City of Houston. He is also proud of being able to obtain a full refund on an insurance premium for a fraudulent provider. Attributing his perseverance, knowledge and experience to his success, Mr. Buck has many more fond memories that he will forever cherish.
Deeply engaged in civic, nonprofit and charitable organizations, Mr. Buck is a current member of the Holocaust Museum of Houston and a past member of the American Jewish Committee and the Jewish Community Center. He is a former president and chair of the risk management committee of Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care. Mr. Buck has contributed to numerous other organizations both locally and nationally, as well.
Mr. Buck served to the rank of first lieutenant in the United States Army. He was also recognized as a commanding officer of an Ordinance Technical Intelligence Detachment in Europe. He has held a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas since 1953.
To support his career, Mr. Buck is a member of the Society of Risk Management Consultants. Instrumental in his success, the organization is comprised of a group of professionals from across the world who specialize in risk management, insurance and employee benefits consulting. In 2008, Mr. Buck was the recipient of a Thomas Jefferson Award of Religious Freedom from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.
