After becoming a mother at the age of 17, Ms. Garcia had to take a year off of high school. She obtained certification in early childhood education and development and discovered that she loved teaching. She subsequently completed an internship to obtain her credentials towards her Child Development Associate (CDA) before becoming encouraged to pursue a career in education. Ms. Garcia later relocated to Arizona to obtain an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from Arizona Western College which was the result of 10 years of studies between her responsibility as a parent and working full-time.
Ms. Garcia began her career as a teacher for Head Start. She also served as an administrative secretary at Arizona Western College and eventually earned a Bachelorettes degree in Business Management and her Master's in Early Childhood Education. She further flourished on the associate faculty at Arizona Western College and the Council for Professional Recognition. Ms. Garcia is also active as the owner and director of Milestones Preschool.
Ms. Garcia established Milestones Preschool in 2018, and had a very successful first year building her business as a result of her hard work and the support that received from people within the community. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, she was forced to start all over again and has since networked in the local community college to find more clients. Milestones Preschool now has more than 45 students to its credit and has been accredited by The Better Business Bureau for its outstanding customer service.
For her stellar efforts in her career, Ms. Garcia was recognized among Empowered Women in a local magazine. In 2018, the school was honored as the Favorite Preschool in Town. She is currently part of the Quality First Committee, and AEYC VP of Public Advocacy. Throughout her career, she has attributed her professional success to her ability to create a safe space for her students to overcome obstacles. Looking toward the future, Ms. Garcia plans to continue advocating for educators in early childhood.
