Since 2016, Dr. Dennis Law has been the director and owner of Canyon Madness Ranch in Roy, New Mexico. Dr. Law spent the first 20 years of his career in medicine as a general, thoracic and vascular surgeon in Denver. Among his many proud moments, he was a partner in the surgical practice that founded the Flight for Life program at Saint Anthony Hospital, United States first major air ambulance system for trauma and other emergency medical services. As the first of four brothers to become successful physicians, he and his siblings all attended the same medical school, the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. They later donated a modern multi-media auditorium to their alma mater's medical education building in honor of their parents, Joseph and Loretta Law. Their father was notably a very successful industrialist and entrepreneur in Hong Kong and was notable for manufacturing most of the Star Wars action-figures worldwide.
Shortly before he retired from practicing medicine, Dr. Law became involved in the arts and entertainment industry in 1996, beginning as a producer for a family feature film, Warriors of Virtue. A $30 million project at that time, it was distributed by MGM, Warner Brothers and Columbia Artists, and became known for leading the industry in introducing high-flying wired stunts to action movies. He then worked in Beijing, China on a successful children's film, Xiwa, and a notable television series entitled April Rhapsody. Six years later, in 2001, he lifelong love for musical theater led him to a second career of writing, directing and producing Broadway style dance "Action Musicals". Purchasing a Broadway theater in Canada, The Centre in Vancouver in the Performing Arts, Dr. Law became President and Chief Executive Officer in 2001, he began devoting time in China promoting American-Chinese culture and theatrical arts, and produced and directed a series of unprecedented dance musicals that became eye-openers for international audiences. These works, among others, included Of Heaven & Earth, Heartbeat, Tang Concubines, Monkey King, Senses-Las Vegas, and the world's first 3D theatrical show, Terracotta Warriors 3D. In 2018, Dr. Law founded the new annual Denver International Festival of Arts and Technology and the annual Denny Awards International Competition for Electronic Music, the latter having found great prestige in China. This focus on electronic music of the digital age led to new acclaimed dance-musical theater productions of Ode to Nature, War & Peace and Ms Butterfly.
For his contributions to arts and entertainment, Dr. Law received a nomination for a Toronto Dora Award for Best Direction of a Musical for Heartbeat in 2005. The productions by his company Sight, Sound & Action, Tang Concubines and Monkey King, won the Dora Awards for choreography and costume design while others have garnered multiple nominations.
Throughout his career in Denver, Dr. Law has been involved in real estate alongside his three brothers. Global Pacific Properties is a commercial real estate investment, development and management company that was originally founded by their father. The firm is headquartered in Denver and now owned and managed collectively by Dr. Law and his three younger brothers, Ron (cardiologist), Chris (plastic surgeon) and Jeremy (orthopedic surgeon).
Dr. Law recently established the non-profit Institute of American Heritage for New Americans as a national new-media digital platform to help new American immigrants under America's roots and achieve their ultimate goals in their new home. To this end, he has launched a new website and application, www.americatranslated.com, and will combine it with internet publications and video programming to educate new immigrants about what has made America great.
Dr. Law holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania and was a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. For nearly two decades, he also held the position of Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
