Ms. Weiss earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from William Smith College in 1982 and went on to attain a degree in nutrition from Saint Elizabeth University. She subsequently completed her internship and earned her credential as a Registered Dietitian at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Margaret is also a certified diabetes care and education specialist, holding certificates in working with connected insulin delivery devices and clinical application of data, as well as insulin therapy and continuous glucose monitoring.
Ms. Weiss began her career working as a floor dietitian in a major New Jersey teaching hospital. She served for several years as the clinical manager of the Kogan Celiac Center at Barnabas Health. Most recently, she was a diabetes educator for Novo Nordisk until 2018, where she was recognized with the Leo Award for Customer Focus and the Circle of Excellence Award.
Since 2019, Ms. Weiss has worked as a Registered Dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist for the Summit Community Care Clinic in Frisco, Colorado, a Federally Qualified Health Care clinic, where she provides nutrition and diabetes education to the underserved population of her local community. She is also a telehealth dietitian in private practice, and the owner of Wishbone Media LLC.
Margaret is the author of "Eat Your Rice Cakes: Discovering Empowerment After a Life-Changing Diagnosis," which was published in 2021. Since publication, the book has been awarded a Gold Medal by the Nonfiction Authors Association and was a finalist in the health-related nonfiction category in a contest by American Bookfest.
A member of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, Ms. Weiss was always interested in nutrition and dietetics. She prides herself on expanding her relationships with patients from a source of compassion and empathy while explaining scientific concepts in understandable terms. Looking toward the future, Ms. Weiss plans to continue promoting this approach through her books and direct work in counseling members of the healthcare industry.
