In her role, she is responsible for the information technology for all of the laboratories at Baystate, oversees 20 full-time employees who maintain interfaces with electronic medical records systems for the health system and with private doctor's offices and update technology in the laboratory on a regular basis. Earlier in her career, Ms. Irons worked as a Business Analyst for SCC Soft Computer, the Director and Manager of Applications and Laboratory Information Systems for UMass Memorial Laboratories, the Regional Laboratory Manager for St. Vincent Hospital Laboratory and the Senior Applications Specialist for Cerner Corporation.
During the early years of her career, Ms. Irons gained valuable experience in the field through customer service, sales, management and technology positions with NLFC Inc., Zale Lipshy University Hospital, Clinical Pathology Laboratories, Damon Clinical Laboratories, Abbott Laboratories, Yale New Haven Hospital and The William W. Backus Hospital. An expert in her field, she initially earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Rhode Island. Ms. Irons subsequently obtained a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Marketing Management from the University of New Haven and a medical technology certification from Rhode Island Hospital.
Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Irons is affiliated with the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the Healthcare Information Management System Society. For her professional achievements, she was honored as the Woman of the Month through the Professional Organization of Women of Excellence Recognized in December 2019 and accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award through the aforementioned organization the following year.
