Mr. Ribbron completed coursework in nonprofit agency administration at Wayne State University, after which he earned a Master of Arts in community development from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2008. While pursuing his education, he worked as a land use advisor for the City Planning Commission of Detroit for four years and a city councilman for six years. From 2004 to 2008, Mr. Ribbron served as the director of county extension for Michigan State University.

In this role, he is responsible for fielding requests and complaints from local residents regarding the siting of buildings and businesses. Likewise, Mr. Ribbron is responsible for distributing building permits after ensuring that prospective owners understand local ordinances.
For his accomplishments in the field, Mr. Ribbron received the President's Award for Outstanding Leadership in St. Clair County by Michigan State University in 2004. He also received an Outstanding Leader of the Year award from the Engineering Society of Detroit in 2013 and the Community Champion Award from Black Family Detroit Inc. in 2018. Likewise, Mr. Ribbron was named as a Top 50 Trendsetter Leader by iDetroit in 2020.
Mr. Ribbron attributes much of his success to those who have extended him with opportunities, as well as his mentors. This includes Mr. William "Bill" Mills, whom he met in 1976. Proud to have worked in the public sector, he is singularly devoted to helping his community, and serves as the secretary of the board of directors for Detroit Future City, and as a board member of Detroit Champions of Hope. Additionally, Mr. Ribbron is a member of the American Planning Association.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Ribbron hopes to make the proliferation of information about businesses and city planning more accessible to the community at large. Likewise, he hopes to feature public information online or via mobile app, which would allow local residents access without needing to travel.
