POINT PIPER, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA, January 17, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anthony Grey has been included in Marquis Who's Who. From a young age, Mr. Grey was inspired by his parents, who were British actors and members of the Old Vic, the premier theatrical company in London, specializing in Shakespeare. After relocating to Canada, they established the country's first Shakespeare festival, which led eventually to a much bigger festival, started and run by others in Stratford Ontario. Having studied classics, Mr. Grey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Modern History from the University of Toronto and, while studying, worked as an actor in his parents' festival, TV and film. However, he was worried about the financial insecurity of the theatre and decided to pursue a career in law, obtaining a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Toronto in 1961.
After practising law with a major Toronto firm for seven years, Mr. Grey founded and became Executive Chairman of Pancontinental Mining Ltd in Australia, emigrating there. He was a founding director of the World Nuclear Association (formerly called The Uranium Institute) and the World Gold Council. Both are headquartered in London. He was also on the board of the World Nuclear Law Association. He was a member of the Benevolent Society and The Flying Doctor Service in Australia. He was on the board of the Conservatorium of Music, Opera Australia, and the Art Gallery of New South Wales. He financed and was Chairman of Polartechnics Ltd, a biotech company.
He is now Chairman of Gordian Investments Pty Ltd.(which he founded), and Vice president (formerly President) of The Brain Foundation, a medical Charity raising funds for scientific research into physical disorders of the brain. He is a member of the Royal Society of New South Wales, a learned society, and is affiliated with the Sigma Chi fraternity.
Mr. Grey found further success as an author, with four published books – Jabiluka, East Wind, Seven Gateways, and The Tortoise in Asia. In addition, he has written many articles published in The Australian Financial Review and The Australian (both daily newspapers), and essays published in Quadrant, an esteemed literary magazine in Australia.
For services to the arts, medical science and mining, he was inducted into the Order of Australia in 2016, was given the Significant Sig award by Sigma Chi fraternity for bringing "honor and prestige" to Sigma Chi, and received an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
Though his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud of founding Pancontinental Mining and financing Polartechnics, a biotech company that saved the lives of hundreds of women through its cervical cancer detection device. In the near future, Mr. Grey intends to continue writing and eventually publish a book of his essays.
