WOODLAND, NC, January 17, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sergeant Detective Ashley Ann Leitner has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Ashley initially joined the Northampton County Sheriff's Office as a member of the patrol unit in 2015. Promoted to sergeant detective in 2018, she continues to serve and protect the community while also enforcing the law to this day. Responsible for investigating anywhere from 30 to 50 cases, Ms. Ashley serves as a lead investigator on all cases, which can span from a break-in to a case of homicide, arson, or any other dangerous or life-threatening situation.
Motivated by her wonderful family, Ms. Leitner notes that her mother has always been her biggest supporter. Her mother often encouraged her to find a career that will make a difference in people's lives while providing her joy and satisfaction. Unfortunately, her mother passed away in 2015 before she had the chance to see her daughter do her best work. Keeping her memory alive, Ms. Leitner believes in the old saying, "Be the change you want to see in the world."
In addition to her mother, Ms. Leitner has found great support and mentorship in her fiancé who recently departed from the field of law enforcement after 10 years to explore other opportunities. She attributes her success as a female in law enforcement not only to her strong support system at home, but also to her fierce dedication to the job. Moreover, Ms. Leitner looks forward to continually leading the way for other women in the field.
Aside from her primary position, Ms. Leitner has been active as a volunteer firefighter for the Woodland Volunteer Fire Department in North Carolina since 2018. She also dedicates her spare time to the Lighthouse of Hope Church in Woodland. To support her professional endeavors, Ms. Leitner is affiliated with the National Association of Computer Voice Stress Analysts, the National Institution of Truth Verification Federal Services, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Beta Nu Mu chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.
Ms. Leitner earned an associate's degree in criminal justice at Roanoke Chowan Community College in 2014. She has since also obtained a general law enforcement instructor certification and criminal investigator specialist certification. Ms. Leitner plans to further her education in the near future by graduating with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
