Since 1973, he has owned "Fred's Energy" and has grown his plumbing, heating, fuel and transportation companies from a home-based business with two employees into a multi-million dollar, multi-branch company with over one hundred employees. Still going strong at 75 years young, Fred continues to oversee and manage his vast array of companies.
Dedicated to serving the community, Fred is a past Derby Village Trustee, past Director of the North Country Chamber of Commerce, past Director and Officer of the Newport Country Club, past Dealers Board Member of Gulf Oil and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Community National Bank. Fred was previously honored as Citizen of the Year by the State of Vermont for his support of an employee with a physical disability and a Person of the Year by the Newport Daily Express for his dedication to the Northeast Kingdom.
Hardworking, dedicated and customer service orientated by nature, Fred began developing his skills at a young age as a mechanic, truck driver, plumber and burner technician. Those traits and skills served him well through the years as his business ventures grew exponentially.
At an age when most are content to watch the world go by, Fred plans to continue running his companies, mentoring start-up entrepreneurs and encouraging our youth to consider a career in one of the skilled trades.
