Having come of age with a family of lawyers, Mr. Woodliff was inspired to pursue a career in field of legal service. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi, after which he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Virginia in 1973. Mr. Woodliff has been admitted to practice before the state of Mississippi.
Mr. Woodliff began his career as an associate at his family's practice, Heidelberg & Woodliff, in 1973. In 1986, he earned the title of a managing partner of the firm, and remained active in this role until his retirement in 1991. Upon facing a personal struggle in his life, Mr. Woodliff suddenly began experiencing symbolic dreams and was inspired to join the church. He obtained a Bachelor of Theology from Oxford University in England in 1995. From 1995 to 1998, Mr. Woodliff found success as a chaplain for Mississippi State University.
Since 1998, Mr. Woodliff has enjoyed his work as a rector for the Trinity Episcopal Church of Yazoo City. In this capacity, he is responsible for the spiritual wellbeing of the parish he presides over. Additionally, he is responsible for the church's services, Christian education and involvement in the community. Owing to his passion for uniting the Christian faith, he co-founded the Yazoo City Ministers Association in 2003. Moreover, since 2014, Mr. Woodliff has served as the founder and chairman of Revive Yazoo, which conducts an annual citywide revival service that is supported by various churches and denominations.
Aside from his work as a rector, Mr. Woodliff participates in numerous community service activities. He has been a chaplain for the Boys & Girls Club board since 2006 and a board member of the American Anglican Council Treasure since 2010. A trusted voice in his field, he is the author of "Rediscovering Christian Orthodoxy in Episcopal Anglicanism." Notably, Mr. Woodliff has been included in the University of Mississippi Hall of Fame, and has earned the Yazoo Homeowners Religious Award, the Man of the Year Award from the Yazoo Herald and the Humanitarian Award from the Yazoo City Chamber of Commerce.
