After obtaining a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Columbia University in 1961, Dr. Weinryb earned a master degree in molecular biophysics from Yale University before completing a Doctor of Philosophy in the same subject in 1967. He was subsequently recruited by Wyeth-Ayerst Research, which has since been acquired by Pfizer Inc. Prior to his retirement in 2005, Dr. Weinryb thrived as a senior director of clinical science, clinical pharmacology and clinical research and development.
During his tenure with Wyeth-Ayerst Research, Dr. Weinryb notably served as the chairperson of the company's interdisciplinary validation committee, which approved the bioanalytical methodology of clinical studies and thus played a vital role in the pharmaceutical application process. Alongside his professional responsibilities, he found further success as the chairman of the Biochemical Pharmacology Discussion Group from 1975 until 1981 and previously maintained active affiliations with the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Dr. Weinryb has also authored or co-authored more than 80 scholarly articles for a host of professional clinical pharmacology journals as well as publications such as CHEST Journal and the American Journal of Cardiology.
In addition to his scientific curiosity, Dr. Weinryb attributes a great deal of his success to the mentorship of his father. He is also proud to have established an honorable reputation amongst his superiors and colleagues, which enabled him to advance to increasingly powerful positions throughout his career. In the coming years, Dr. Weinryb intends to continue enjoying his well-deserved retirement while remaining up to date with the latest developments in his specialty areas.
