He currently holds several roles, including as an adjunct research professor in the Wake Forest School of Medicine department of physiology and pharmacology, the chief executive officer and president of Synaptamine Inc., the director of LifeGen Inc., the chief scientific advisor of Dominion Diagnostics, the founding president of the United Scientific Science Group and the executive chairman of InGeneUs Inc. Notably, Dr. Blum has worked as an honorary lifetime professor of psychology at the Institute of Psychology at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary, since 2016.
Having held several positions in the fields of psychiatry and neuroscience, Dr. Blum has acted as the chairman of the eponymous Kenneth Blum Neurogenetic and Behavioral Institute since 2020. A respected voice in his field, he was further recruited to serve as an editorial board member for a number of renowned professional publications, including Theoretical Biology and Medical Modelling, the Open Obesity Journal, Functional Neurology, Trends in Applied Sciences Research and the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs. Likewise, Dr. Blum maintained involvement as the Editor-Chief of the Journal of Current Psychopharmacology and the editor in chief of the Journal of Reward Deficiency Syndrome and Addiction Science and Co-Editor in-Chief of The Journal of Systems and Integrative Neuroscience.

Having extensively studied the science of addiction, he discovered the first gene association for alcoholism, which is a dopamine receptor gene. Moreover, Dr. Blum extensively researched the pharmacogenomics both substance and non-substance craving and completed important research regarding common generics threads for compulsive, addictive and impulsive behaviors.
Renowned for his contributions to the field, Dr. Blum holds twenty-two European patents, including the first patent on nutrigenomics ever awarded in the United States and Europe. He is known for coining the phrases "reward deficiency syndrome" and "brain rewarded cascade," which are widely used in his field. He has even been deemed the "father of psychiatric genetics" and the "father of neuroadaptagen amino-acid therapy." As a testament to his expertise, he has been the recipient of the Psychiatry Selection Award for "Handbook of Psychiatric Genetics" and the Book of the Month award for "Handbook of Abusable Drugs." Likewise, Dr. Blum earned the Julius Axelrod Distinguished Speaker Award.
Dr. Blum initially pursued a formal education at Columbia University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science. He subsequently obtained a Master of Science from the New Jersey Medical School at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. In 1968, Dr. Blum earned a Doctor of Philosophy from New York Medical College. He has been honored with a DOCTOR OF HUMANE LETTERS from St .Martins University. He is a licensed pharmacist in the states of Texas and New York.
