To better serve his business and his community, Mr. Makin has been engaged as a member and past president of his local chapter of Toastmasters and as a member of his local Chamber of Commerce. He has also long been civically involved by volunteering his time with the Jolly Holiday Lights Setup for the Make-A-Wish Foundation since 2013, with camp maintenance for the Boy Scouts of America in 2014, and by spreading awareness of childhood cancer with the Saint Baldricks' Foundation since 2015.
An alumnus of Iowa State University, Mr. Makin received a Bachelor of Science in marketing in 2005. Mr. Makin was named to the Top 100 Leaders in Marketing and Advertising for 2021. His company was also named Best Marketing Agency of Des Moines for 2020-2021 and Best Marketing Agency at the Marketing Conference 2.0 in Las Vegas in April 2022 and will be giving a keynote at The Mirage as well. Earlier, he was recognized as a Competent Communicator by Toastmasters International in 2015.
