Supported by two decades of experience in information security, software development, web development, project management and more, Mr. Greer presently excels as a program manager for the IP Telephony Program at Verizon Business. In this capacity, he oversees the management of equipment and systems, and guides process development to ensure that new voice over internet protocol (VoIP) installations are brought under management. Prior to obtaining his current role, Mr. Greer gained valuable expertise in the field as an information security project manager for Palm, a program manager for the $10 million VoIP replacement program at the CSAA, and as a senior business continuance and disaster recovery consultant for International Network Services.
During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Greer worked with such companies as Pacific Gas & Electric, Cisco, Dresdner-RCM Global Investors and SBC. Throughout the course of his professional journey, he has achieved much, including defining and documenting the network structure and process flows at SBC, managing the IT infrastructure portion of a $9 million expansion project for Dresdner-RCM, performing a review and gap analysis of Cisco's global network and more. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. Greer aligns himself with the Project Management Institute.
An expert in his field, Mr. Greer completed philosophy studies at Saint John's Seminary, earned a Bachelor of Arts in development psychology from the University of California Santa Barbara and received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Information Technology is Mr. Greer's second career. His first career was in the public sector, spending more than two decades in the field of Juvenile Corrections with the California Youth Authority. He took early retirement in 1999. Well regarded nationally for his breadth of knowledge in this field, he contributed to the seminal work, "Juvenile Sexual Offending, Consequences and Corrections". He also earned an award for his continuous and considerable efforts to decrease sexual offending and victimization in 1992. Although both of his careers have been filled with highlights, Mr. Greer is most proud to have created a program to supervise juvenile sex offenders as a parole officer in San Francisco. Throughout this period, he required parolees to participate in therapy, and recidivism dropped from 30% to merely 3%. In light of the program's success, he was interviewed on different news stations, including NBC.
