After more than 28 years in the military, Mr. Anderson began his civilian career as a supervisor for Beltrami County Health and Human Services in Bemidji in 2020. In this capacity, he oversees the Consolidated Intake Unit and Workforce Impact Teams. His tenure in the U.S. Army spanned from 1992 to 2019, advancing from the rank of lieutenant to the rank of colonel. Initially stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, he later served in Afghanistan, Jordan, Kuwait and Iraq, eventually becoming appointed as the branch chief for the headquarters of the Department of the Army. During this time, Mr. Anderson trained over 200 joint service members, providing rapid response to humanitarian, disaster relief, and security, and notably assisted 30 experts from throughout the U.S. Department of Defense.
In 2017, Mr. Anderson was honored to be selected to serve as a military assistant for the presidential inauguration. He also had the pleasure of participating as a U.S. Army coordinator and participant in the Four Nations Army World War I Centennial Staff Ride. As part of his civic commitments, he has been active with the Minnesota 9/11 and Global Ware on Terror Task Force as a member since 2020. Mr. Anderson likewise supports local children as a den leader for the Cub Scouts of America Pack 4082.
An alumnus of Bemidji State University in Minnesota, Mr. Anderson earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1991. He later obtained a Master of Arts in management and leadership at Webster University in 2008 and a Master of Science in joint campaign planning and strategy at National Defense University in 2013. Mr. Anderson additionally garnered a Minnesota short term substitute teacher certification and advanced open water diver certification.
Mr. Anderson is a lifetime member of multiple organizations, including the National Rifle Association, the 82nd Airborne Division Association, the Civil Affairs Association and the Reserve Officers Association. He is also a Gold Legacy Life member and adjutant for Post 1260 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 2020 as well as a member of the Friends of Civil Affairs, the Military Officers Association of America, the American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.
Decorated for his military service, Mr. Anderson received the General Winfield Scott Silver Medallion, the Army Staff Badge, two Humanitarian Service Medals, The Legion of Merit, a Joint Service Commendation Medal and Bronze Star with an Oak Leaf Cluster. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been cited in the 60th through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, the 24th and 26th through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World, and the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders of America.
