DENVER, CO, January 27, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shelby Hackney has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Hackney initially pursued a formal education at Seattle University, from which she obtained bachelors' degrees in both political science and humanities for teaching. During this time, she received the opportunity to complete an internship wherein she worked in an elementary school. Discovering a passion for teaching, she earned a master's degree from the University of Denver. Since 2018, Ms. Hackney has found success as a teacher for Denver Public Schools.
In her role as a teacher, Ms. Hackney is responsible for teaching 140 geography students and a group of 25 Student Leadership students. She additionally plans lessons, conducts meetings, instructs classes and grades assignments. Moreover, she focuses on grading data to analyze her students' performance and achievements to find areas for growth. Ms. Hackney considers her greatest career accomplishment to be the ability to simply make a difference in students' lives, one student at a time.
To remain aware of the changes in her field, Ms. Hackney is a member of the National Education Association, the National Council for Social Studies and the Denver Coalition of Teachers Association. For her outstanding performance while in college, she was presented with the John F. Kennedy Award for Excellence for having the highest grade point average in the political science department. Likewise, she accepted the Matteo Ricci College Award for Excellence and the Teacher Education Program Award from the University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education. In the future, Ms. Hackney intends to stay in the district for her career and stay in the classroom with students while pursuing leadership opportunities within her school.
