At just 14 years old, Mr. Coats began his storied career in the restaurant industry. Over the course of four and a half decades, he has gained valuable expertise in various capacities, culminating in his current work as the managing partner of Limestone Partners LLC and as the owner and chief executive officer of Mike's Place, which was the first restaurant to be granted a permit to serve alcohol in Conway since the 1940s. Well regarded in its local community, Mike's Place is a popular destination for events, celebrations and gatherings of all kinds.
During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Coats garnered experience with several large restaurants in Arkansas, and as the general liaison for government affairs with General Mills, during which time he helped pass several bills in Congress. Furthermore, he worked as an adviser to the University of Central Arkansas, a board member of the restaurant curriculum program at Arkansas Tech and as a board member and adviser for the advertising promotion committee at A&P. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. Coats affiliates himself with the Arkansas Hospitality Association, where he served as past president.
In conjunction with his work, Mr. Coats serves as a member of his local First Methodist Church. For his professional accomplishments, he has won several accolades, including an Award of Distinction in 2008, a Business Executive of the Year Award in 2009, the Joint CEO of the Year Award in 2010, the Boss of the Year Award, a Salute to the Restaurateur Award through the Arkansas Hospitality Association and the Distinction Award for Distinguished Service through Downtown Partnership in 2018. Looking toward the future, Mr. Coats aims to scale back his work and become a consultant in the field.
