Mr. Tillinghast is a senior transportation engineer for Jacobs Engineering Group, a technical professional services firm headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Over the past four years in his role, he has been responsible for assisting project managers providing engineering consulting services to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and other Public Sector clients, providing highway design, technical advice, overseeing quality assurance and conducting quality control review, among other duties. As a recognized leader in the industry, Mr. Tillinghast has the opportunity to mentor many young engineers, teaching them about various aspects of the industry by imparting his many years of varied design experience, knowledge of highway design and problem-solving skills and design calculations without the use of automation, which he believes is paramount to their success.
Joining Jacobs Engineering Group in March 2018 after a long career with the TxDOT, Fort Worth District, Mr. Tillinghast found success as a transportation engineer between 1990 and 2018. During his tenure at TxDOT, his most notable achievements was working as the project manager overseeing the development of complex corridor schematics for the development of the Managed Lanes system called the North Tarrant Express (NTE) along Interstate 820, Interstate 35W and SH 121/SH 183. Taking many years and billions of dollars to construct, Mr. Tillinghast was responsible for securing environmental clearance and schematics approval for the construction of the NTE managed lane projects in the Fort Worth area. Many of the segments of the NTE are constructed an open for use.
Planning to relocate to Galveston, Texas in the next few years, Mr. Tillinghast plans to continue working for Jacobs Engineering Group for another 10 years before fully retiring. He ultimately hopes to spend his free time with his wife, children/family, grandson on the beach and continue to be a mentor to his adopted daughter who is studying to become a civil engineer. Through his community, Mr. Tillinghast is actively involved in his local church, supports Endtime Ministries and Air 1 radio to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Mr. Tillinghast studied at the University of Texas, Arlington where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in December 1989 and was inducted into Chi Epsilon, the Civil Engineering Honor society. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Texas and North Carolina and to support his career is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.
Mr. Tillinghast attributes all his engineering success to Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior, who has provided him with the knowledge and strength to succeed. He feels blessed to have been able to see the beauty of God's creation throughout his career, which has been very enlightening. Furthermore, he is grateful to have been able to contribute as a public servant and make the world a better place.
