Mr. Zurbrigen, a serial entrepreneur, attributes his success to the willingness of others to help him. Born the eldest of two, Michael failed to thrive growing up. Diagnosed with learning disabilities, ADHD, ODD, and suffering from mild dyslexia, Michael also endured bullying for being a stutterer. Learning in a traditional classroom was very challenging and his inability to focus had made success at school and finishing anything impossible. He was homeless three times by the time he dropped out of high school. Soon drugs and alcohol took away any hope for positive growth and his life spiraled out of control. Broke, homeless, destitute, eating from dumpsters and barely unemployable almost 20 years, Michael was an "unwelcome hanger-on" in life.
By the time he was 40, Michael had overdosed 50-plus times, been shot, beaten near death, crashed several cars, and repeatedly jailed. A frequent flyer of emergency wards and chemical dependency treatment centers, his life was all but over.
His life took an unexpected turn when a police detective demonstrated a kindness and practical help that Michael had never experienced and felt he did not deserve. So deeply moved, Michael decided to spend the rest of his life helping others.
Direction in this new life came into sharp focus for Michael through finding work, volunteering at the food shelf, cooking at the House of Charity, and embracing the support of 12-step groups. Soon Mr. Zurbrigen was able to start a recovery home for addicted homeless people after a stranger-turned-new-friend bought him a house!
After years of sobriety and working with hundreds of addicted homeless men, Michael knew that sacrificing for others was the only way to live and to prosper. He had witnessed it in himself and countless others. In less than 15 years, Mr. Zurbrigen transformed from a derelict menace and burden to himself, family and society, to a contributing member of his community with the sole purpose of helping others.
Michael realized that if this process worked to pull him from near-death, while creating prosperity, then it should also work to improve the results and throughput of companies and organizations. Mr. Zurbrigen began to pool his experiences with some basic business management concepts. This hybrid of knowledge, experience, and a fierce determination birthed a new management development process—building leadership teams to ensure long-term objectives and success for businesses and other organizations.
In 2012, Mr. Zurbrigen and his brother, Scott, founded Euro-Wall Systems, LLC, manufacturers of retail and high-end residential fenestration products. His company saw record-breaking performance, enjoying 10 years of 45% growth year over year. In 2019, Mr. Zurbrigen bought out his partner and grew the company by focusing solely on developing and investing in relationships, not numbers.
Mr. Zurbrigen earned multiple awards for helping the homeless, the mentally ill and/or abused. He won "Entrepreneur of the Year", Grow FL's "Florida Companies to Watch", and several awards for generously supporting veterans, police, first responders, and all those who have sacrificed for our great nation. Mr. Zurbrigen enjoys being a husband, father, and brother, and is grateful to share all that was shared with him, through mentoring and other meaningful relationships.
