Married to Charles, they have two children, Alexia and Keatha, and four grandchildren. Ms. Holmes enjoyed a fulfilling career in Business Administration and Marketing that spanned more than three decades. Working for the Quality, Trim and Material Departments of General Motors, it was her role to aid in problem solving, communicating with management, assembly, stock and implementing changes into her facility. While working at General Motors, she appeared in UAW-GM People Magazine, Winter 2004, received the People Make Quality Happen Award plaque in 2005, recognized and implemented H-3 Hood Paint Adhesion project 2006, and received the Suggestion Monetary Award for Final Department 2008. Previously, Ms. Holmes held the position of Business Vocational Teacher for the Shreveport Job Corps Center, where she taught shorthand, typing, word processing, and other daily responsibilities.
Ms. Holmes' exemplary performance in the field was born of her academic journey. She completed her undergraduate studies at Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing. For the past two decades, Ms. Holmes has exhibited her artistic abilities as a doll maker.
As a commitment to her field, she has been active with several industry related organizations, such as the International United Automobile, Aerospace and the Agricultural Implement Workers of America Union. Looking toward the future, Ms. Holmes aspires to continue enjoying her retirement by making her dolls and enjoying her grandchildren.
