WOODSON, IL, February 10, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce A. Milner has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Milner earned an Associate of Applied Science in diesel engine technology from Lewis and Clark Community College in 1975 and went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in post-secondary occupational education, with a minor in automotive technology, from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 1977. Later in his career, he earned a Master of Education in adult vocational and technical education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1986.
An ASE certified master automotive technician, L1 engine performance specialist and medium and heavy truck technician, Mr. Milner commenced his professional career as an automotive technician for Vogler Ford in 1975. In 1977, he transitioned to education as a teacher at Greenfield High School, Greenfield Illinois, and part-time for Lewis and Clark Community College in 1989. After this tenure in academia, Mr. Milner resumed working in the automotive industry in 1998 as a heavy equipment, paving equipment and truck technician for UCM/Freesen, Inc., serving in these capacities on a part-time basis until 2004.
During this time, Mr. Milner was a teacher for School District #117 in Jacksonville Illinois between 1980 and 2011. Following this pursuit, he worked as a builder and contractor for Donovan Brothers Builders from 2012 to 2013 and was promoted to adjunct faculty instructor at Lewis and Clark Community College, part time. Continuing his career in education until his retirement in 2016, Mr. Milner served as a facilitator for curriculum development and revitalization projects for the Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Workforce Education and Development for three years. The Curriculum Revitalization Project worked directly with the Illinois State Board of Education to provide resources for Career and Technical Education instructors and programs throughout the State of Illinois. As the Engineering and Technology Facilitator, the CR Program maintained a website of curriculum materials, resources and workshops for CTE instructors around the State. Conducting workshops and conferences that provided resources in technology, computers, software applications and more, for CTE teachers and classroom applications.
In addition to his primary career path, Mr. Milner has also been active as a community leader. Starting his civic duties as a member of the Woodson Village Board in 1989, he transitioned to a village trustee in 1990 and, subsequently, president of the board from 1993 to 1997 and most elected terms to present. Currently, he excels as the Mayor of Woodson Village and a board trustee, a position he has held since 2013. He is also a member of the Woodson Lions Club, Illinois College Automotive Instructors Association, Association of Career and Technical Education, Technology and Engineering Association of Illinois and the Illinois Business Education Association.
A driven individual, Mr. Milner prides himself on always working to do a better job than before. He plans to continue serving his community and improving business opportunities in the area in the forthcoming future. Additionally, he has spent the years keeping up with diesel engine technology, computers and electronics as a hobby. He is an avid outdoorsman, hunter and sport fisherman as well. He has provided engine work and transmission builds to car and truck enthusiasts.
