Prior to the formation of Key Bridge, Dr. Rogers has over 30 years in business management/ownership experience. He has obtained a Master of Arts in professional counseling from Liberty University and more recently he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology from Keiser University in 2021. To remain aware of the latest developments in his field, Dr. Rogers maintains his affiliation with the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors, the Florida Drug Court Professionals, and the International Association for Correctional and Forensic Psychology. Additionally, he is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Certified Master Level Addictions Professional, and a Certified Trainer for Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health First Aid for Youth. He is certified in EMDR and is currently the only Certified Sex-Offender Treatment Provider in Monroe County, FL.
Dr. Rogers' doctoral research study was to test the efficacy of a group treatment curriculum he authored titled Reframing Your Future. The curriculum is a 6-month long group treatment series that seeks to lower criminal thinking and raise a desire to engage in treatment among its participants. The first phase of the study began with a comparison of the recidivism rates in the Monroe County Detention Center between treatment participants who were given this treatment as opposed to those who didn't receive the treatment he authored. This phase of the study showed that Reframing Your Future was a direct contributor to a significant reduction in the one-year recidivism rates of the inmates who received the treatment. In the second phase of the study, outpatient participants were tested to determine if the Reframing Your Future curriculum would lower their criminal thinking and also raise their desire to engage in treatment; two key factors needed to reduce recidivism. The study also found significant results in both lowering the criminal thinking and raising a desire to engage in treatment.
Dr. Rogers attributes a great deal of his success to his passion for improving the collective mental health of his local community of Key West, Florida. He established Key Bridge observing firsthand a gap in the mental health coverage of the community. Dr. Rogers said, "Everyone here in our field works very hard to serve their clients, but in a small rural community there are always gaps in health coverage. At Key Bridge, we are always trying to be a valued part of the solution." In the coming years, Dr. Rogers intends to further the growth of Key Bridge and continue to find new ways to expand their reach to fill more of those gaps.
