MINNETONKA, MN, February 11, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ivy Chang has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Born in Beijing, China, to a political family in the Nationalist party, Ms. Chang and her father's side of the family fled communism and followed Chiang Kai-shek to Taipei, Taiwan in 1949. Her father was attending the University of Minnesota at that time and was not allowed to leave the U.S. by Congress. She and her mother stayed in Taiwan, were not allowed to enter the U.S., and were separated from her father for seven years.
In 1955, Ms. Chang and her mother arrived in Minnesota. She attended elementary, secondary, and the University of Minnesota where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She learned her English while attending elementary school and could not speak or read English for a few years after arriving in Minnesota.
Ms. Chang was hired by Burlington Northern Inc. as an editorial assistant, 3M Company as a senior writer and editor, and International Multifoods Inc. as a manager of communications. After ten years of corporate communications, Ms. Chang was offered a job as communications specialist with a school district and served for 11 years.
In 1992, Ms. Chang began her own business, PR International, and performed much public relations work for a variety of clients. Again, she was asked to serve as managing editor with Reed Business Information, and after three years, sold her magazine to Scranton Gillette Horizon.
For her outstanding body of work, she has been honored with a School Bell Award from the Minnesota Education Association, a Cover Photo award from Construction Bulletin magazine, and an Honorable Mention Award from the Construction Writers Association for her weekly reports on the 35W Bridge collapse and rebuilding.
In 2020, Ms. Chang retired from her journalism work and is starting a distribution job with a company in California which makes recycling machines for densified foam.
