After earning a Bachelor of Science in physics from the National Taiwan Normal University, Dr. Hsu obtained a Master of Science in physics specializing in atomic, molecular, and optical physics research from the National Tsing Hua University, where she also worked as a graduate student researcher and graduate teaching assistant. Subsequently, she honed her expertise as a graduate teaching assistant with the University of California San Diego and a graduate student researcher for Salk Institute for Biological Sciences. Soon thereafter, Dr. Hsu graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in physics from the University of California San Diego.
Drawing on her considerable experience and knowledge, Dr. Hsu has excelled as a postdoctoral fellow for the Salk Institute for Biological Studies since 2021. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Hsu has been affiliated with several organizations, including as a student member of the American Physics Society.
Although her career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Hsu is incredibly proud of publishing an article revealing how inhibitory neurons play a crucial role in facilitating signal transmission. It was a work collaborated with neuroscientists from the University of California San Francisco and Stanford University, and greatly supported by Salk Women & Science Award (2016) from the Salk Institute.
She also fondly recalls serving as a member of the Phi Tau Phi Scholastic Honor Society of the Republic of China, and accepting Wu Chien-Hsiung scholarship (2011) from the Physical Society of the Republic of China, which honored her master's research at the National Tsing Hua University. Looking toward the future, Dr. Hsu intends to keep an open mind in finding job opportunities in other fields and industries with her expertise.
