GOLDSBORO, NC, February 14, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Olivia G. Tippett has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Tippett earned a Bachelor of Music in music education from Appalachian State University in 2020. Receiving several scholarships for her education, she studied to become an expert in band and choir direction. Since 2021, she has worked as a band and choir director for Greenwood Middle School for Wayne County Public Schools. In this present role, she teaches general music electives in addition to band and choir classes. She also collaborates with gym coaches and plans her curricula to best educate her students. Last January-June, she taught at Eastern Wayne High School in addition to Greenwood as part of a split position.
She is a life member and alumna of the Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society, and holds affiliation with the National Association for Music Education and the North Carolina Music Educators Association.
A self-professed people person, Ms. Tippett was originally inspired to become a music teacher by her own middle school band director. Having two older siblings who were band members in their scholastic careers, she was exposed to music early in her life. She took choir classes herself and was involved in orchestra work in high school, which garnered her a Director's Award.
Ms. Tippett plans to grow her band program further to support the players she has across four classes. Her goal is to amend the music program at her school to have separate instructors for the band and choir programs, allowing her to concentrate on the band classes exclusively while working with a separate choir teacher.
