TOLUCA LAKE, CA, February 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marina Toybina has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Born in Moscow, Russia, Ms. Toybina immigrated to the United States at age 11. Drawn to the arts as a child, Ms. Toybina's creative mind led her to sketching her own unique designs and learning everything she could about fashion. As she continued to grow up she dreamt of owning a business, creating her own products and having the autonomy to do things her own way. After graduating high school in Phoenix, AZ, she followed her calling and moved to Los Angeles to attend the distinguished Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, specializing in fashion design. Beginning her career as a fashion designer at a young age, she launched her private label GLAZA in 2004, and was fortunate to gain experience with many incredibly talented individuals in the industry.
Ms. Toybina has excelled as an award-winning fashion and costume designer since 2001 and the owner of Marina Toybina Inc. since 2015, a thriving business to date. Her exquisite designs have been worn by famous singers, actors and dancers throughout Hollywood, including Carrie Underwood, Pink, Juliette Lewis, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Usher, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande to name a few. Her portfolio of work has also been on display on primetime television programs such as "The Masked Singer US," "The Masked Singer Germany", "The Masked Singer Belgium", "World of Dance US," "So You Think You Can Dance," as well as at live events including the Grammys, Billboard Awards, the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show and the American Country Music Awards. Moreover, her work has been featured in a plethora of music videos, commercials, concerts, world tours and theater events both locally and abroad.
With each project Ms. Toybina dedicates much of her time to researching the history and themes of whatever she is tasked to convey through her designs. Creating stories through her artwork, she focuses on both the graphic and artistic aspects of the design process, collaborating with cutter-fitters, sewers, fabricators and various specialty shops. As a result, Ms. Toybina is heavily involved in the entire process of building out the costumes for all of her projects from start to finish.
Ms. Toybina has been a union member of the Costume Designers Guild (Local 892) since 2010. Her creative vision and drive were integral to the success of The Masked Singer, and in 2021 her dedication paid off as Ms. Toybina became one of only a handful of costume designers to receive both costume designer and producer credits on a primetime television show.
Throughout her career Ms. Toybina has received multiple awards recognizing her work, breaking records in 2015 as the first costume designer to win four consecutive Emmys in the Outstanding Costumes for a Variety Program or a Special category. Over the years she has earned a total of six Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards in this category, for The Masked Singer (2021 and 2020), Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show Starring Katy Perry (2015), So You Think You Can Dance (2014), The 55th Annual Grammy Awards (2013), and The X Factor (2011), as well as a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award nomination for The Masked Singer (2019). In 2018, Ms. Toybina won The Ellen Mirojnick Styling Award at the Hollywood Beauty Awards. She has also been recognized by her peers in the Costume Designers Guild, receiving a CDG Award for Excellence in Variety, Reality-Competition, or Live Television for The Masked Singer (2020) and a CDG Award nomination for So You Think You Can Dance (2019).
Loyal to her values, Ms. Toybina is a very persistent businesswoman and entrepreneur who is not afraid to take risks. During her career she has endured many long hours, late nights, hardships and sacrifices, though she is proud to be living the "American dream". In the coming years, Ms. Toybina hopes to become involved in other aspects of arts and entertainment, including producing, directing, and licensing deals. She sees each and every project as an opportunity to showcase her skills as well as to hone new ones, and is constantly in the process of reimagining her career so that she can continue to embrace each new experience as it comes. Ms. Toybina ultimately hopes to create a business structure which not only allows her to dive into every creative avenue that she can, but also opens doors for others to follow in her footsteps.
