Driven to live as long and as healthy of a life as possible, Mr. Best pursued his career in biomedical research. After earning a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the University of British Columbia in 1974, he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and finance and a Bachelor of Science in physics and computing science, both from Simon Fraser University in 1987. Upon earning his additional bachelor's degrees, he began his career as a senior programmer and analyst for Scotiabank in Toronto, Canada, where he worked for fifteen years. During this period, he was Treasurer of Toronto Mensa, helped incorporate the Cryonics Society of Canada, and helped organize a conference for the APL computer language.
Mr. Best gained valuable expertise in the field of cryonics as president and chief executive officer of the Cryonics Institute, where he served between 2003 and 2012. Drawing upon his considerable knowledge, he excels today as director of research oversight for the Biomedical Research & Longevity Society, where he has worked since 2012. To remain abreast of ongoing changes in the industry, he has maintained affiliation with the Cryonics Society of Canada for more than 30 years.
Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Mr. Best authored "Cryoprotectant Toxicity: Facts, Issues, and Questions," which was featured in Rejuvenation Research Magazine in 2015 and has been one of the highlights of his career. It addresses the most important problems in the field of cryobiology. In light of his professional achievements, he has been recognized through Mensa Canada and the American Mensa. Looking ahead, Mr. Best intends to continue his research regarding living a long and healthy life.
