BROWN DEER, WI, February 21, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gerald L. McGregory has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. McGregory, the athletic and activities director at Brown Deer High School in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, has provided his guidance and expertise to students since 2017. A small district that serves approximately 1,600 students, the school offers a rigorous academic program, as well as various extracurricular activities and sports. In his role as the director, Mr. McGregory is responsible for managing athletic events activities for all four seasons, conducting administrative work, attending board meetings, overseeing contracts, schedules, and rosters and, among other duties, promoting his students many talents.
Among his many accomplishments, Mr. McGregory has successfully reinstated the stand-alone wrestling program, been instrumental in establishing the Women of Will girl specific program initiative, and increased academic standard for student-athletes. He also hired five new head coaches, three of whom currently work for the district. Honored to serve as the newest director of the school's team, Mr. McGregory is also humbled to be the first African American man to acquire this role in the district.
Mr. McGregory began his career more than 20 years ago as a program director for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee's LaVarnway branch in 2000. He was subsequently promoted to serve as the executive branch director from 2005 to 2008 and the area director until 2013, where he was responsible for securing approximately $215,000 for various charitable organizations. Mr. McGregory was then recruited by Milwaukee Public Schools as the manager of youth sports for the Greater Milwaukee area from 2013 to 2017.
Presently, Mr. McGregory continues to provide support to the LaVarnway Boys and Girls Club of Milwaukee as a board member. He has also been a member of the Brown Deer Athletic Booster Club since 2017. Mr. McGregory enjoys contributing to his community and is grateful to be afforded the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children.
Mr. McGregory obtained a Bachelor of Science in physical education in 1994 and a Master of Arts in health and human performance, with an emphasis recreation, in 2011 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. To remain aware of developments in the field, he is a member of several relevant organizations, including the National Organization of Minority Athletic Directors, the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association, the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, and the National Recreation and Parks Association. In 2021, Mr. McGregory was recognized by his hometown of Beloit, Wisconsin, by being named to its Hall of Fame.
